Machining became an important part of my engineering workflow because it connects design decisions directly to material, setup time, tool access, and inspection.
Working on student-team hardware gave me repeated exposure to parts that had to be practical, robust and manufacturable with the machines available.

Endcaps, nozzles, and retention hardware require careful attention to geometry, surface finish, material selection and repeatability.
The work helped me understand how design details that look minor in CAD can become important during setup, fixturing, or inspection.

Beyond propulsion hardware, I also worked on structural pieces and supporting fixtures, where repeatability and a clear manufacturing sequence mattered more than criteria that initially seemed more important.
Later, I became an advisor for members of the team planning on manufacturing components, helping them understand the tradeoffs and practicalities of different approaches.
